Uncomfortable but Completely Necessary

I am figuring things out for me and my life as a writer at this point in my journey. I have to keep writing the stories and poems as regularly as possible. This means writing something EVERY day. I have to focus ONLY on the books, and nothing else but the stories and the poems. This means figuring out how to get me and my books read and seen by more and more parents, therefore more and more children. This means Book Fairs, Daycare Readings, Public Library Meetings & Readings, Bookstore Visits, Social Media posts that show MY writing, etc. I gotta put myself and my books out there. I have to step right into uncomfortable waters. I have to be somewhat vulnerable while not revealing it all. I have to be an “open book” whose words are chosen carefully and beautifully. But the “open book” must create beautiful stories, meaning the stories must create a connection to the reader and to others. The stories have to be ones that inspire the child in Chicago, as well as the child in Compton. They also have to be thought provoking  for the child in Jamaica, as well as the child in Johannesburg. And so the journey continues…
